Geodesic Rim Structures — Strength Through Efficiency
An exploration into the application of geodesic structures beyond traditional architectural use, translated here into high-performance wheel design for the mountain biking sector.
The resulting rim architecture demonstrated how a geodesic load distribution can dramatically increase both stiffness and structural strength without a corresponding weight penalty.
Through Finite Element Analysis (FEA), the design validated significant improvements in rigidity and impact resistance at equivalent mass. In practical terms, this enables a substantial reduction in overall wheel weight for a given strength target — or, conversely, a major increase in durability without weight increase.
